This socket is designed for use with 5/16" grip neck (wood neck) stem casters. Ideal for wooden furniture, chair legs, carts & other wood-based applications.

Before installing this socket, a 3/8" pilot hole must be drilled to accept the socket. Once positioned, the socket can be driven into place using a hammer. The metal socket features sharp retaining teeth that bite into the wood, ensuring a secure installation.

Once the socket is installed, the caster stem can be pressed into place. The socket’s narrow expandable tail end functions like a spring clip, creating a tight grip around the casters stem to prevent loosening or being pulled out during use. Because of this design, some force is required during installation.

If needed, we recommend lightly tapping the caster frame with a rubber mallet can help seat it fully. Please note that these sockets are not designed for frequent removal. When replacing a caster, the socket insert is typically replaced at the same time to ensure proper retention & performance.
