High Temperature Elastomer Caster Wheels

When it comes to hot environments, your caster options are usually limited to steel, high temperature nylon, high temperature phenolic and high temperature epoxy.

High temperature elastomer is a lesser known option that fills in some niche needs.

The choice of caster wheels primarily depends on the temperature range. Steel wheels are suitable for environments of 550° F and above, while high temperature nylon, epoxy, and phenolic wheels are viable options for temperature ranges between 550° F to 400° F.

High temp elastomer wheels can be used for temperatures below 400° F.

Characteristics of High Temp Elastomer

High temp elastomer is resistant to water, oil, grease, most acids, chemicals and cleaning solutions.

These wheels are different from other high temp wheels because they are floor protective, meaning they won't mark or damage your floors, which is a rare case in high temp wheels. Many that don't leave marks can scratch your floors when dirt gets under the wheels, and others will damage your floors themselves. High temp elastomer provides a protective wheel that are recommended in high temperatures.

However, high temp elastomer wheels are not able to withstand as high of a temperature compared to other high temp wheels. High temp elastomer wheels are typically rated for temperatures up to 350° F continuously and up to 400° F intermittently.

High Temp Elastomer's Capacity

The capacity of high temperature elastomer wheels depends on their durometer. These wheels typically have lower capacities than other high temp wheels. High temp nylon, phenolic and epoxy wheels have higher capacities, with steel wheels offering the highest capacities.

Final Thoughts
