Road Case Casters

Road Case Casters

Road cases are widely used in the music and entertainment industry to transport sound systems, lighting equipment, instruments, and more. Built for durability and constant movement, these cases are designed to protect valuable gear during travel and setup. Road cases are easily recognizable by their reinforced metal edges, rugged black panels and signature blue caster wheels.

From touring bands to production crews, road cases play a critical role in keeping equipment safe, organized and ready for use. A big part of this is their casters, which are designed specifically for smooth mobility and durability.

Road Case Caster Rigs

One main component of the caster is its rig, which attaches the wheel to the road case. Mapp Caster's blue elastic rubber road case casters utilize the industry-standard top plate to allow a true "plug and play" replacement.

The caster swivel section uses ball bearings for effortless pivoting and has a red dust cover to minimize dirt and dust getting into the bearings.

Road case casters are also available with a Total Lock brake, which locks both the wheel and swivel sections of the caster to provide the most security.

Caster Wheel Features

Road case casters typically use elastic rubber wheels, which come in an iconic blue.

Elastic rubber wheels are an incredibly durable and resilient option, designed to handle impacts, bumps, cracks, and a wide range of flooring conditions while minimizing damage to the floors they roll on. Made from a high-quality elastic rubber similar to that of rubber bouncy balls, the wheels offer excellent rebound and shock absorption.

The wheels are then equipped with roller bearings that handle impact loads while assisting with smooth rolling, especially under heavier weights.

In addition to being ideal for road cases, these wheels can also be used in a variety of other applications thank to their high capacity for their size.

Final Thoughts

The right caster setup plays a key role in how your road cases perform day in and day out. A durable rig paired with a high-quality elastic rubber wheel provides smooth rolling, impact resistance, and long service life.
